    Hall Green is an area located in Southeast Birmingham. The modern centre of Hall Green stretches along the Stratford Road. Hall Green has several historically important buildings, such as Sarehole Mill, which is one of only two water mills in Birmingham. The village of Sarehole was once home to a young J.R.R Tolkien. This beautiful location provided Tolkien with some inspiration for his globally successful novels, such as ‘The Lord Of The Rings.’

    While you will not see any of Tolkien’s Hobbits in Hall Green, you will see plaques dedicated to a number of other notable figures who lived in the area.
