    Kingstanding Area Guide

    Kingstanding is an area in north Birmingham, seven miles from Birmingham City Centre. The name of the area is derived from the occasion when King Charles l supposedly reviewed his troops in the area on 18 October 1642 during the English Civil War.The first references to Kingstanding were as King’s Standing. The area was largely rural until 1928 when large-scale residential development commenced in the area. It was during the 1930s and 1940s that most of the current housing was built. Kingstanding is also known as a transport hub, with buses arriving and departing from every corner of Birmingham, and the city centre itself, often within only a few minutes of each other.

    • Bus – As mentioned above Kingstanding Circle is a transit hub for buses. Routes include the 7, 28, 28A, 28B, 33, 65, 66, 66A, 451, 757, 869, 907, 934, 934A, 935, 935A, 28C, 807.
    • Car – the A453 runs through Kingstanding and connects the area to the rest of Birmingham.
